The original Detroit Project vision, launched by Rev. Ryan McVicar in late 2012, was to plant 10 faithful, Gospel-centered, outward-facing churches by 2030!
By 2015 we were able to celebrate two strong Detroit Project churches planted—New City Royal Oak (Planter Ryan McVicar), and Redeemer Detroit (Planter Dan Millward).
By the end of 2021, with the multiyear plan for Dan to hand off the reigns of the Redeemer Sr. Pastorate to Jon Saunders in place, and with Ryan and Megan McVicar thinking they might have another church plant in them, I accepted the call to the directorship of The Detroit Project!
I am truly humbled and honored to report, in 2022 the project has gained traction and progressed beyond anything I could have asked or hoped for! In addition to the two established Detroit Project Churches, we now have four startups underway, and have now moved the goal posts: 10 Churches by 2026, and 35 Churches by 2035.
With many faithful DETROIT PROJECT PARTNERS pooling our resources, we have the potential of being part of an amazing kingdom movement.
