Mark and his wife Suzan live in Katy, TX when not traveling in their RV and are members of Christ Church PCA. The Beckers are the parents of two adult daughters. Back in 1994, Mark joined a volunteer team cleaning out flooded homes in Beaumont, TX. Since then, he has regularly volunteered with responding teams including responding to Hurricane Floyd (1999), Hurricane Katrina (2005), and Beaumont flooding (2016).
He and Suzan served as disaster site managers following Hurricane Harvey (2017) where they hosted local and traveling volunteer teams and interfaced with team leaders. Mark recently retired from his first career as a process engineer at various paper mills. Following Hurricane Laura (2020), Mark and Suzan served with MNA Disaster Response at the Lake Charles, LA Hurricane Laura recovery site the Fall of 2020. They coordinated teams and managed the overall operation of the recovery site. Mark came on staff for MNA as a Disaster Response Associate Specialist in October 2020 and he works with Rick Lenz in the South Central Disaster Response Region which includes Texas and Oklahoma.
Mark is available to share information at churches and presbyteries about the disaster response ministry, various ways to get involved, and the experience he and Suzan had while serving in Lake Charles.
