MEET JONAS AND MELISSA KALEOOKALANI PATTERSON
Born and raised in Hawaiʻi, Jonas is a descendent of one of Hawaiʻi’s first Hawaiian pastors. After moving to Alaska Jonas met and married Melissa. Although Jonas was raised in the Hawaiian church it wasnʻt until early in their marriage that Jonas was called to saving faith in Christ. While serving in a prison ministry program he developed through his local church, he felt the call to go back home and proclaim the Gospel to the people of Hawaiʻi.
With Melissa’s encouragement, Jonas and his family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and in 2019 he received his Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary. After seminary, Jonas interned at Great Plains Gathering, a PCA Native American church plant in Billings, Montana. He and Melissa also completed the PCA church planter assessment through Mission to North America.
Jonas and Melissa have six children, plus two more with Jesus. They will be relocating from the island of Oʻahu to serve on the island of Kauaʻi where Jonas was raised. He is currently serving in the Hawaiian community, conducting traditional Hawaiian blessings, counseling, and leading bible studies. He will begin the work of church planting on Kauai as support is raised.
Gifts can be sent via check or money order made payable to MNA. Ministry or church plant names should be clearly designated with a note accompanying the check or money order.
