Philadelphia—a city of towering history and kaleidoscopic culture—beckons with both its promise and its pain. Here, we feel God’s unmistakable call to walk alongside those who have long carried the gospel’s light into its neighborhoods and hearts. We long to be a blessing, as Peter exhorts, loving God with all our heart and our neighbors as ourselves, as Jesus commands. It is our heart to seek the well-being of Philadelphia, as Jeremiah urged the exiles in a city not their own, even as we “look forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God” (Heb. 11:10).
