Ashley Belknap, Engaging Disability With The Gospel

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, I obtained my undergraduate degrees in Christian Education and Business Administration from Erskine College. I then received my Master’s in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. While in Jackson, I met and married my husband, John, and made Mississippi home. We now live in Brandon, Mississippi and have three young boys, two of whom are on the autism spectrum.

My love for ministry, the local church, and families impacted by disability all coalesced in my position as director of Engaging Disability With The Gospel. Daily ministry revolves around prayerfully considering how to expand disability ministry across the PCA, through local churches, and in church plants. Every church in the PCA has people already in its midst who are impacted by disability. But rarely do churches consider what supports might help these individuals and their families thrive in their relationships with Christ and others, versus simply being present at church.

No church is too small or too large to engage in meaningful and effective discipleship with people impacted by disability. Whether you are a pastor, elder, deacon, teacher, leader, volunteer, or parent, I would love to talk with you about how to take the next small step in disability ministry that works for your church.

Through teaching online trainings, conducting ministry consultations, writing timely resources, speaking at churches and conferences, and managing a staff of four, I am prayerfully encouraging PCA congregations grow in their love for and commitment to discipling and enfolding individuals and families impacted by disability.

As director, I raise all of Engaging Disability With The Gospel’s ministry funds, in addition to my own support. Currently, I am seeking new donors for my own support fund (65% funded) and for the Engaging Disability Ministry Fund.  If you have a heart for families impacted by disability and wish to see your contribution multiply ministry in meaningful ways, I would love to partner in ministry with you.

For questions or updates on the support raising process or if you want to be more involved in disability ministry, you can contact me directly at abelknap@pcanet.org.
