Christ New Community is a church plant in the city of Waldorf, which is located in the suburb of Washington, DC. Waldorf is a growing community comprising of people of diverse backgrounds, who work with the Federal government and nearby military installations. Waldorf has a population of about seventy-five thousand people, comprising about sixty percent African-American and forty percent people of European and other backgrounds. Waldorf is suitable for a church plant because the fast-growing population of the city has outpaced the capacity of its traditional churches and the other independent churches that have moved into the area from nearby cities.
Abraham NuQuay, the church planter, is a native of Liberia and a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. He is an ordained Elder with Potomac Presbytery in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA). Abraham is married to Celena, with two children (Jimmie, 18; and Emma, 13). Abraham is assisted by Paul Lankford, a student at Reformed Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.
With an emphasis on strong biblical preaching and teaching and effective discipleship in the power of the Holy Spirit, Christ New Community will draw on its Reformed and Presbyterian traditions to reach Waldolf with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
